Midsummer Tradition

【Mushiboshi Airing】

Mushiboshi was to air clothes to prevent the effects of insects and mold. They set up ropes and racks inside the house to hang clothes to be aired. Especially, airing during the Midsummer Days of the Ox (about 18 days before the beginning of fall) was called doyoboshi and was a traditional scene around that time of the year.
