Nukabukuro bag】

People in the Edo period used rice bran as face soap. They put rice bran in a small red bag called nukabukuro. After soaking it in water, they squeezed it and used the liquid coming out of the bag to wash their face and body. Rice bran was sold at bath houses and they refilled the bag each time.
